India in Boxing Day Tests against Australia
It’s time for the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia. Melbourne is wearing a festive look and the city’s iconic cricket stadium – Melbourne Cricket Ground will host its eighth Boxing Day match between the two cricketing super giants – India and Australia.
The MCG is likely to be packed to the rafters and the cricket-crazy Melbourne public will be rallying behind Tim Paine’s men, who are heading into the third Test of the ongoing four-match series with a lot of confidence following their 146-run win in Perth.
India should make sure they don’t get overwhelmed by the occasion. There are several inexperienced international cricketers in the visiting team’s line-up and, without a doubt, the Boxing Day Test will provide a stern test to their mental ability.
India can’t afford to go down once again but history tells us that visiting Indian teams have failed in Melbourne, especially during Boxing Day Tests. The Asian giants first played in Melbourne in 1948 and have played 11 more matches since then, managing only two wins – 1978 and 1981.
