India put on a huge total of 601/5 and declared in the first innings against South Africa with the help of Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 254 in Pune. The Indian captain scored his career-best highest score in Test cricket on Friday in Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. With this score, Kohli becomes the first Indian captain to score 250+ runs in a Test inning. His previous best was 243 against Lankans in 2017.
He also smashed the record of getting most numbers of double tons in Test Cricket and surpassing Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, he scored seven two hundred against six different opponents. As a captain, he also scored 40 test tons just followed by the highest record of Ricky Ponting. He became also the fastest 21000 international run-getter in just 392 matches.

With a slight off form, he started the test series against Proteas, but he bounced back in the second test and showed everyone that he is not the player to be dominated for long. With this huge total, India got the win over South Africans by an innings and 137 runs. India made the series 2-0.
